Discover / Our Approach

Do the homework first. Follow the evidence. Explain the tradeoffs.

My Web Connect is being built around a simple idea: useful recommendations should start with the person and the problem, not with a commission table. Commercial relationships can help fund the work, but they should not silently change the answer.

Our working principles

01

Understand the need

A product or provider can be excellent and still be wrong for a particular situation.

02

Compare meaningful factors

Capabilities, limitations, total cost, usability, support, requirements, portability, and long-term fit matter more than marketing claims.

03

Explain tradeoffs

We would rather explain who each option is good for than manufacture a universal winner where one does not exist.

04

Separate money from ranking

Affiliate, referral, sponsorship, reseller, or partner relationships should be recorded separately from independent evaluation data.

05

Disclose relationships

If My Web Connect can earn compensation from a link, referral, or provider relationship, the goal is to make that understandable rather than hide it.

06

Keep learning

Products change, companies change, prices change, and better options appear. Research should be revisited instead of treated as permanent.

Best overall is not always best for you

We expect many comparisons to use scenario-based recommendations such as best for a small restaurant, best for a solo professional, best for a student, best for privacy, best for a growing business, or best value at a particular scale. The useful answer is often conditional.

Affiliate and partner relationships

My Web Connect may eventually participate in affiliate, referral, reseller, sponsorship, or service-partner programs. These relationships can help support the platform and may make it easier to connect users with setup assistance or qualified providers.

The rule we want to preserve: if the strongest recommendation does not compensate My Web Connect, we should still be able to recommend it. A provider can pay for an advertisement or participate in a partner program, but they should not be able to buy the meaning of "best."
